Jarvik Heart is unique among makers of medical devices. We manufacture Jarvik 2000 blood pumps and many system components in-house at our facility in Midtown Manhattan. Where highly specialized expertise and equipment is required, such as for ultra-precision bearings, or for implant sterilization, we work with top quality outside suppliers. Our operation is small, allowing us to focus on each pump and component we build. Every titanium element of every pump is shaped by dedicated machinists and then hand-polished and inspected. The external controller and other components are assembled and tested by our highly-qualified staff of engineers and technicians. By keeping development, manufacturing, and quality assurance processes under one roof, we are able to maintain tight control over the quality of the products we produce.
