Heart Recovery

Enlargement of the heart — or “remodeling” — often exacerbates heart failure. In patients supported by a VAD, a process of “reverse remodeling” may take place, whereby the heart begins to restore its natural size and shape and improve its functioning. Studies on reverse remodeling seek to understand its causes and its physiological and genetic mechanisms.
